Once again, we stand at the beginning of yet another year. I have been contemplating a theme to start my communication with the world after a year of not writing any newsletters.
I went through all the themes I have used before as a new year's theme: intentions, choices, life reviews. Everything we do involves choice. That is no news. Yet, mastering the art of choice is something we will refine until we leave this planet. Consequences follow choices. That means that choice is buddies with taking responsibility for our actions, thoughts and emotions. Hence, this art requires becoming aware of what motivates our choices: love or fear.
All of this can be quite a mouthful for the beginning of a new year. I thought, let's keep it light: no matter what happens on this journey called life, the good news is that you can always choose again and again and again: Creating the new and livingforwards.
..... We cannot manifest the new in the now, when most of our energy is acting out old beliefs about ourselves. Neither can we set clear goals and intentions for a successful 2012 if we hold on to painful, rotten, grumpy, itchy and sticky emotions. And we will hang onto them until we have listened to the wisdom they have to offer, so that they can leave our space.
Don't be afraid if this seems to be more than you can handle by yourself. The upcoming workshops can help you with those stains you just can not get rid of.
For the DIY person, here are four pointers to remember:
Clear house, take the wisdom, set new goals and listen.
CLEARING HOUSE
Start with a clean slate by clearing and cleaning up the rooms in your mind and pools of emotions by using these questions:
What areas in your life didn't work last year? Where do you feel you didn't succeed? Which avenue in your life needs attention? Health, finance, relationships, creativity, personal growth, giving of yourself or "me" time? Write down your thoughts and feelings.
If you are not one of those who can sit and dialogue with your soul on a piece of paper, then make clearing out your physical home a symbol of clearing the old so that the there is space for the new. Go through your home with your higher self, and take out all clutter. If something doesn't serve a purpose and it does not have meaning for you, throw it out. Remember: meaning has "me" in it. So all experiences, books, copies, friends, jobs and areas in your life that no longer make you come alive or speak to your heart, are clutter.
Clutter blocks what you wish for in the now. As you do this in each corner of your house, name one belief about yourself which you experienced last year and wish to let go of. For example: Not feeling and thinking I am good enough. Write a new affirmation and stick it next to the light switch, so that you can repeat it every time you switch the lights on and off. For instance: I am willing to say yes to goodness. Then choose to believe that you are goodness in whichever form your spirit wants to present it.
TAKE THE WISDOM
From all the good and bad and the ugly, what wise principle or knowledge can you take from last year to build upon? Normally our higher self assigns a principle to us which we need to understand in order to create our lives. The sooner we get to this the better. Then, of course, we need to integrate it, so that we can apply that piece of truth wisely. To give you an example from my son's life, which came to him during one of our meditations last year: Habits have power. Regardless of whether a habit is good or bad, he has the free will to choose which habit to instil to enhance his life force.
The wisdom will have a basis in truth - the type of truth that contains light and sets us free. Oh yes, if you listen with a sense of humour instead of listening in order to beat yourself up, the answer will reveal itself without a struggle. If you cannot get to the piece of wisdom, phone angel-911 or a coach. If the pain continues, see an expert in soul retrieval work, because pain means that there is a deeper karmic pattern being acted out that is working against you.
SET NEW GOALS
Do not set new goals in any area if you have baggage there. If you don't consider goals, wishes and dreams as something you are interested in, then stay where you are for the rest of your life. All people who achieve something in their lives had a dream, goal list or vision board. Most dreamers keep them so that they can tick off what they have achieved.
LISTEN
The biggest lesson I personally am learning is to listen.
In order to achieve your goals and dreams you need to listen to your heart until you succeed. When you hit a challenge it does not mean stop; it means listen deeper until you reach your truth, which will guide you to succeed.
Once you have set a heartfelt intention, it is already given. That which you ask for, takes on a life of its own. It is created from your heart with your will. That intention, wish or goal has a voice that knows you and will guide you. Be prepared to listen and free yourself to do something new and do it differently. Don't act until you hear and feel your truth. And use your imagination! Use lots of it.
